Crockett & Co.

Walt Disney, who has performed some rather startling feats, was at his startling best when he dug deeply to provide company for Davy Crockett (Fess Parker) on his march from the Frontier into the homes and hearts of America. Disney picked a veteran Broadway and Hollywood dancer, Buddy Ebsen, as George Russell, who fights and frolics with Davy until both go down at the Alamo. For Andrew ("Old Hickory") Jackson, Disney hit upon Basil Ruysdael, a long-time radio announcer, noted for his mellifluous tones. Davy's wife, Polly, is Helene Stanley, actress-singer-dancer who was the model for Disney's "Cinderella" and "Sleeping Beauty." Parker, a minor movie and TV actor (before Disney), is shown at left as Davy.
