William Rast was a boyhood friend of Walt Disney. The two grew up together in Kansas City, Missouri. Bill’s sister later married Walt’s brother Herbert. David Lesjak met the Rasts through a mutual friend and got to visit them on several occasions. Their house was decorated with Disney artwork, all of which was signed on the mattes to Bill and his wife Louise. Bill also had a scrapbook filled with letters from Walt, some dating back to 1930, as well as autographed photos and even Walt’s first Laugh-O-gram business card. […]
