A violin player starts with a waist or sound chamber made of pine wood, a bow fitted with horse hair and four strings presumably made of catgut. With this jumble of oddities, he attempts to make music. And he succeeds.

An animator starts with a pencil sharpener, a fist full of pencils and a few sheets of paper. With these unpromising ingredients he attempts to create motion pictures that all the nations of the world will find respectfully entertaining. And he succeeds.
