The director of The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, and Ratatouille is already a legend of animation in his own right.

Brad Bird was born in Kalispell, Montana. On a tour of the Walt Disney Studio at age eleven, he announced that someday he would become part of its animation team, and soon afterward began work on his own fifteen-minute animated short. Within two years and a half, Bird had completed his animation. As a teenager, barely in high school, Bird was mentored by Milt Kahl.
Brad’s friendship with Milt Kahl, the most opinionated of the Nine Old Men, led him to discover the softer side of a genius.
