The giant who built tiny marvels, Jack Ferges was, according to his colleagues, “a big man with a big heart who knew how to create beautiful miniature models and soon became a legend of Imagineering.” [...] Like Blaine Gibson, Jack Ferges was an animator who sculpted as a hobby. While at WED, Jack was both a sculptor and a model-maker, handling such varied projects as Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, It’s a Small World, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, Journey into Imagination, the Jungle Cruise, the Country Bear Jamboree, and under the direction of Rolly Crump, the unrealized Dumbo’s Circusland project. His last project was Maelstrom for the Norway Pavilion at Epcot and he retired around 1987. [...]
