Factory-made hotel rises in a new world

Rising in a new world of recreation is a structure that employs tomorrow's construction technique, industrialized building. The structure, the central building in a 1.057-room hotel complex. will tower 14 stories over Walt Disne World. a 2.500-acre entertainment-vacation center now taking shape 15 miles southwest of Orlando, Fla.

When completed in October, 1971. along with the Disney organization!: Magic Kingdom, the $30-million high and low-rise hotel complex will be unique principal aspects. Through the lobby will run – and stop – two monorail trains, and all of the 436 guest except the suites the top guest room floor. will have been produced on a factory assembly line. Another 621 guest rooms in a three-story will also be factory-made. Some of these already are in place, stacked without additional structural support, one ator the other.

The high-rise hotel, an A-frame design. and its low-rise annex were designed by Welton Becket and Associates, Los Angeles, for the owner, United States Steel Realty Development Division of United States Steel Corp.. Pittsburgh. This hotel and another that will be built completed by 1971, were master-planned by WED Enterprises, Inc., subsidiary of Walt Disney Productions. Inc..
