Lake Buena Vista, FL-A fiber optic telephone cable has been installed at Walt Disney World by Vista- Florida Telephone System, servicer of the entertainment complex's 10,000 telephones.
The five-mile transmission line runs from Vista- Florida headquarters here to a switching center near the Magic Kingdom. The cable was produced by Nippon Electric Co., which sent twelve technicians from Japan to assist in its installation.
The fiber optic line is part of an ongoing effort by Walt Disney World to test and demonstrate innovative systems under the concept of an Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow.
