Matters related to Disney history are so interconnected that it sometimes takes a key member of the Ink and Paint Department to give us new insights about Disneyland. Martha Jean Erwin was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, on March 7, 1918. She attended Park College in Parkville, Missouri, from 1936 to 1940, graduating with a B.A. in Art. While at Park College, she attended one semester at the Kansas City Art Institute. She joined the Disney staff on September 7, 1940, in the Ink and Paint Department, being promoted to assistant supervisor in 1943 and paint supervisor in 1946. She retired in 1979, and died on June 20, 1988. […]
