John Ewing joined the Disney Studio in the late ’50s as an apprentice animator. He officially became assistant animator on September 6, 1960, being assigned at first to the Milt Kahl / Stan Green unit then to John Lounsbery. He worked with Lounsbery on 101 Dalmatians, The Sword in the Stone and The Jungle Book and decided to resign on March 24, 1967. His memories of the Studio in the ’60s help bring to life seldom-discussed artists of immense talent like Hal King, John Sibley, Jack Ferges, Bud Hester, Eric Cleworth, and John Lounsbery himself.
