Harry E. “Bud” Hester was born on December 3, 1928, in Glendale, California. He attended USC as an engineering major, was drafted to fight in the Korean War and on his return decided to study art, at Chouinard for a short while, then at Woodbury College, in the Advertising Art section. He joined Disney in April 1954, starting as an inbetweener on Lady and the Tramp and moving quickly to an assistant position in Ollie Johnston’s unit on that same movie.
