Glen Keane iInterview
Charles Solomon: What was it like, working with Ollie when you began animating?
Glen Keane: I came to Disney when I was twenty years old, completely in awe of the history and tradition of the studio. I remember going into Ollie’s office. It was my first job, inbetweening for one of the Nine Old Men who was still working there. I was really nervous. My typical position would be to stand behind Ollie, looking over his shoulder as he would place my drawings down and place a clean sheet of paper on the top of them. It was kind of a magic moment. It’s weird: No matter how good you think your drawings are when you have them on your own desk, when Ollie would put them on his desk while I was looking over his shoulder, I felt “No, no, give it back, I can do better than that!!”
