Dick Huemer worked for various animation studios for more than 50 years, starting with the Raoul Barré studio in 1916. The bulk of his professional life, from 1933 on, was spent at the Walt Disney Studio, where he worked as animator, director, and story director, on some of the most memorable Disney shorts and features.
Joe Adamson recorded six interviews with Huemer in 1968 and 1969, as part of the Oral History of the Motion Picture in America Project, administered by the University of California at Los Angeles, funded by the American Film Institute and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Excerpts from those interviews have already been published in the American Film Institute’s magazine, AFI Report, and in Funnyworld Numbers 16 and 21. The excerpts that appeared in Funnyworld had been revised by Dick Huemer.
