Plain schoolgirl now a glamorous star
Ainslie Baker

An album that should appeal to anyone who has been following the fortunes of bright little ex-Mouseketeer Annette is "The Story Of My Teens"-and the 16 songs that tell it.

AS well as the songs ("Tall Paul," "I Can't Do The Sun," "First Name Initial" are among them), this book-like Vista LP has pages of color photographs tracing the career of Annette from rather plain schoolgirl to glamorous TV and film star.

She was discovered by Walt Disney in 1955 when dancing at a children's concert in Burbank, California. He signed her up on the spot as one of the original 24 members of the Mickey Mouse Club.

Though Annette started as a back-row dancer, her pep and personality won her so many viewing friends that she was soon singing songs and appearing in serials and other Disney shows.

Paul Anka got the idea of writing her some special songs and the result was the "Annette Sings Paul Anka" LP.

Three years after she was discovered, Annette made her first film, "Shaggy Dog." Since then she has made "The Horsemasters" with Tommy Kirk (in England), "Babes In Toyland" with Tommy Sands, and most recently a new Disney TV show, "Wonderful World Of Color," in Rome.

Now 21, Annette says at the end of her story that she hasn't yet met the right man and that she'd like to wait until she's 23 or 24 before marrying.

When she does marry, she plans to wear the beautiful wedding gown she wore in "Babes In Toyland" for her screen marriage to Tommy Sands, and which was given to her after the film was finished.
