Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty

Good triumphs over evil once again, and true love conquers all, in Walt Disney's new version of the most tender and beautiful of fairy tales, The Pricess Aurora is the personification of virtue and innocence, and her Prince Phillip is handsome and brave. Battling desperately to save them from an apparently hopeless situation are the kindly fairies, good-natured kings and gentle animals. Ranged against them are the evil Maleficent and her wicked brood of dragons, ravens, hangs and goons. The simple plot of the original Sleeping Beauty has, of course, been embroidered by Disney. Drama and excitement have been added; there are music by Tchaikovsky and fantastic comic invention. But perhaps most satisfying is the beauty of the pageant. It is almost a series of medieval tapestries which have come alive.
