I have been asked by our illustrious founder [comic book historian Denis Gifford] to divulge a few facts from a blameless and quite unexceptional life. I know not why he requires such data, unless it be as a dire warning to others who may be considering a comic-al career. Therefore, unaccustomed as I am and never thinking that I would end up as an ACE reporter, here goes. December 1916.
