Rocket Ship Ready for Blast-Off To Moon July 18
Hollywood – TWA's rocket ship to the moon is set to blast off July 18, the official opening day of Disneyland, Walt Disney's fabulous playground and dream of 20-years brought to life. Disneyland is the fantasy world of Peter Pan and Snow White for the delight of young and old – it will take visitors back to America in its infancy and unfold through tomorrow where rockets journey to the moon. Disneyland is located in the city limits of Anaheim, approximately 22 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles via the Santa Ana Freeway. Disneyland will be reached by helicopter from Los Angeles International airport and also from midtown Los Angeles. Helicopter service is expected to commence in September. The grounds can also be reached by private or U-Drive car via the Santa Ana Freeway and Harbor Blvd. Tanner-Gray Line will operate a morning and afternoon half-day sightseeing excursion from downtown Los Angeles hotels to Disneyland, in addition to an all-day sightseeing excursion. Charges will be $3.35 per person for the half-day excursion and $5.50 for the full-day trip (children under 12 half-fare). These prices do not include Disneyland admission charges. […] Approximately 30 nationally-known organizations will have exhibits at Disneyland. TWA will have the space rocket ship exhibit and two space theaters and will be the only airline officially operating in Disneyland. TWA's rocket ship, which will rise 76 feet above the ground and is higher than any other structure in Disneyland, will dominate the scene. The rocket ship was designed with the cooperation of leading experts and is as scientifically correct as is possible to design today.
