Disney Legend Floyd Norman
On this episode of WEDWay Radio we are joined by Disney Legend Floyd Norman. Floyd joined the Disney Studio in 1956, working there until 1968 as an artist and story-man. His biggest contribution came when he was promoted from animator to story-man on The Jungle Book. He would return to Disney many times in the 70's, 80's and 90's working on features like Bedknobs and Broomsticks and Hunchback while also contributing to areas like the Mickey Mouse comic strip. In 1997 he moved north to join the team at Pixar during development of Toy Story 2 and later Monsters Inc. Floyd was the first African American animator to be hired by Disney, and also holds the distinction as the only person to work directly for both Walt Disney and Steve Jobs.
