There are some 400 artists in the Disney studios whose work appears in the finished pictures. But only 45 of these are "animators." The animator is the man who puts life and character and personality into the cartoon characters.
An animator in a genius in a way. He is author, playwright, actor, creator. Usually he is temperamental. He is highly paid; his time is too valuable for details; consequently only a few of his actual drawings appear on the screen. Walt Disney himself, the king of animation, draws not a line for the screen.
