Bob Gurr is widely recognized as the man who hit a game-changing home run by bringing Audio-Animatronics figures to life, turning a tangled mass of wires, tubes and plastic into Abraham Lincoln, the unquestioned star of the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair.
As it turns out, Audio-Animatronics is just a small portion of Gurr’s impressive and wide-ranging resume, one that includes creating all the vehicles for Main Street in Disneyland; the Autopia freeway cars; coming up with the design of Matterhorn Mountain bobsleds and track and lending his expertise in the development of the Disney monorail system.
